In addition to providing new processing systems, Caloris specializes in retrofits and capacity expansions so the same equipment you invested in years ago can continue to work for you.
Below are photos from an ongoing capacity expansion at a whey processing facility in the Midwest. The plant had plans to increase cheese production volumes, which would in turn generate greater volumes of whey. The existing 30-year-old system at the plant was insufficient to handle these increased whey volumes.
Caloris worked with the customer to develop several different upgrade scenarios that would help them to achieve their future production goals. The agreed upon solution not only would achieve these goals, but also took into account how the equipment would factor into future plant upgrades for seamless integration.
In Photos 1 & 2, you see a new whey pre-evaporator (calandria and vapor separator). This is heated with a 700 HP vertical turbofan, making possible 55,000 PPH of water evaporation. The new vertical turbofan is mounted on top of the new vapor separator.
In Photos 3 & 4, we show a retrofit of an existing 3-effect whey evaporator including the replacement of a problematic high-speed turbocompressor with new dual 500 HP turbofans in series. The two fans in series offer compression across three effects, providing 80,000 PPH of water evaporation.
