Superior Process Technologies: Elegant Evaporation

The patented CALORIS CONCENTRIX® MVR evaporator is a popular and elegant evaporator system for processing food, dairy or beverage streams, or for concentrating wastewater. Built in a concentric configuration, the Concentrix evaporator uses proprietary Caloris technology to deliver a compact evaporator design with the highest available energy and operational efficiencies in a compact evaporator design, with models evaporating up to 100,000 pounds (12,000 gallons per hour) of water per hour at an efficiency of up to 200 pounds (24 gallons) of water evaporated per kilowatt of power consumed (42 watts/gallon). The Concentrix MVR is a high-efficiency falling film evaporator system using proprietary turbofan technology for heating by Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR), driving the evaporation process with electrical power. Falling film evaporation technology means that only a small quantity of product is held inside the Concentrix at any given moment, minimizing the time required for system start-up, rinse-out, CIP and shutdown. Superior Process Technologies: Caloris RO Condensate Polisher Case Study

At Caloris, we strive to help companies efficiently utilize every drop of water. A customer with a new milk powder production facility in a water-sensitive area needed assistance with conserving water. The customer approached Caloris to design and install necessary treatment equipment to recover cow water (vapor condensate) discharging from the evaporation process systems and process it to a quality suitable as Category I, acceptable for use in potable water applications.

Caloris provided two reverse osmosis polisher systems to process cow water generated from the evaporator system. The two RO systems were delivered as a single, pre-assembled skid including pre-piped RO element housings, pumps and heat exchangers. This helped reduce the cost of the installation as well as the time to complete the installation. The project from design, installation to operation took 16 weeks to complete and produces more than 144,000 gallons of potable water for the facility every day. To learn more, read the case study.
