Milwaukee, Wisc.—Art Zimmer, co-founder of Caloris Engineering, received WCMA’s Distinguished Service Award at the 2022 CheeseExpo in Milwaukee. Wisc., this week.

Zimmer began his foray into U.S. dairy processing in 1975, when he forged a successful connection between German energy-saving technology and the U.S. market need for large capacity units of highly sanitary design. A trailblazer in evaporator technology, Zimmer established his own Zimmer Corporation in 1994. After a highly successful run, he sold the company to the Carlisle Companies in 2000. Rather than retire, Zimmer co-founded Caloris in July 2006, along with his wife, Linda, and partners Dan Neth and Barry McFarland.

Caloris entered into a strategic partnership with a small group of Minneapolis investors in 2014. Zimmer has since retired from Caloris, but still serves as a consultant on various evaporation projects.

“All of us at Caloris are extremely proud of all that Art has accomplished in his career,” said Caloris President & CEO Jim Peterson. “The lasting success and growth of the company is a testament to his legacy in the field of food processing.”
